FIELD KNIVES AND TOOLS
Field knives are light tools (though as knives they are generally heavy).
The inherent versatility of the blade makes them extremely useful in solving numerous problems where more specialized tools may not be adequate.

They are robust knives, of medium weight, with a forward centre of gravity, (towards the point), a thickset point and solid handle.
The hilt guards are secure and the blade, generally, has a depression where the forefinger can be rested when surpassing the guard to shorten the distance between the hand and the blade to effect precision cuts.
